3-Year-Old Girl Born Without Arms Hugs The First Ever Armless Pilot

Jessica Cox, the first pilot without arms, says that people ask her all sorts of question and one of them is, “How do you hug?” Ruth Evelyn Pranke is 3-years-old. She answers the question for her to the world. It is one of the most powerful moments the world of the internet has ever witnessed. The emotional hug captured the moment that redefines hope.

Karlyn Pranke was 20 weeks pregnant when she knew that little Ruth had no arms. “I started googling ‘without limbs.’ That’s when Jessica’s name popped up. I wanted one day to be able to meet her.”, explains Pranke to CBS.

One day Ruth asked something of her mother. Ruth said that she wanted arms. And that’s when Karlyn knew, it was time. She drove from Saint Paul, Minnesota to Air Venture Oshkosh, Wisconsin, to answer all Ruth’s questions.  This is at the premiere of a documentary based on Jessica Cox’s life, Right Footed.

Jessica says that she wanted little Ruth to know that there is someone else without arms and she is happy. And that you don’t need arms to be happy. It comes from within.

When Ruth asked if she can have a look at the air plane that Jessica flies with her feet. This is where she took her!

Jessica adds that Ruth is only three and thinking about future is not on her to-do list everyday. She is living in the moment as of now. But still, she wants her to know that there is nothing in the world that she can’t do. She is just like everyone and can do anything.

Karlyn says that she focuses that Ruth understands that having no arms is not a ‘disability’, but an ‘ability’. Ruth has started believing that she is like any other kid and that she can do everything she likes.
