These small screen hotties are back after a break
It’s never easy to quit when one’s on a professional high, they say. The Hindi television industry, however, has seen numerous recent instances where small screen heartthrobs who took a self-imposed sabbatical from TV, some years ago, to pursue new creative ventures, are making a comeback as leads in prime time shows. After keeping their fans on tenterhooks for years about possible ‘comebacks’, these Telly dreamboats are making a splash again. Will they be able to recreate the same magic this time around too?

Jaipurite Ashish Sharma started off as a theatre-artist, did a stint in films and moved on to daily soaps and even won a dance reality show! The soft-spoken Ashish who’s played the macho role with finesse, now takes on a mythological avatar of Lord Ram in Siya Ke Ram. About his comeback and role, Ashish shares, “The character-sketch was done just the right way by the producers Nikhil and Suhana Sinha. It is fantastic to make a comeback with a show like this, which has such an amazing canvas.”

Last Seen: ‘Devon Ke Dev… Mahadev’New show: ‘Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat’
In his last telly outing as Mahadev, Mohit Raina became a household name overnight. Everything about him made news — be it his diet, his graceful dance steps. Even his personal life was much written about. Post the show, Mohit made his way to B-Town with mixed results. Mohit is reportedly making a comeback as the grown up Ashoka in Chakravartin… opposite Saumya Seth. It will be interesting to see how the audience reacts to Mohit’s entry.

New show: ‘Dehleez’
Harshad Arora as Zain created a lot of buzz in his earlier show — for his fabulous screen chemistry with Preetika Rao and also showcasing his chiseled abs from time to time. Harshad’s essaying the role of an honest IAS officer Adarsh in Dehleez. Harshad says, “I had signed a show post Beintehaa, but it didn’t work out. So I waited for the right show to come my way. And, I am happy that I am part of a finite series, I am enjoying the entire story. Generally infinite series make the show-making process a little mechanical so, Dehleez is a welcome change for me in terms of both character as well as story-treatment.”

New show: ‘Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi’
The chocolate boy of small screen, Shaheer Sheikh, is back with, in his words “a mature love story,” after a successful stint as Arjun in Mahabharat. About taking a break from daily soaps, Shaheer shares, “When you are a part of daily soaps, your lifestyle becomes monotonous. You work for long hours without taking too many breaks and that drains you out. You cannot choose to divert attention to anything but the show and there’s no personal life. I take at least six months’ break after a show wraps up.”

New show: ‘Kasam…Tere Pyaar Ki’
With his most popular show Banoo Main Teri Dulhan, and a short stint with Bollywood, Ssharad took a break, post which he made a comeback on the small screen with Maharana Pratap. And now Sharad is back doing what he does best, romance the female lead. Ssharad shares, “My character of Rishi in Kasam was an attractive role. It has a variety of shades and the audience will be delighted with the story. The right project is important and one always wants to do better than previous stints. And that’s what I look forward to.”
